We are a Utah-based startup that specializes in documenting all OHV trails around Utah, especially the underserved and underdocumented trails. With over 80,000 miles of OHV trails in Utah, it's safe to say some are going to be driven over more than others, and this leaves other trails neglected, undriven, and frankly forgotten about. Well, we're here to change that.
By combining the power of Google Street View, 360° cameras, and satellite imaging, we are setting out on a mission to document and photograph all 80,000 miles of OHV trails in the state of Utah. With off-roading becoming a bigger sport, plus a major tourist attraction in the state of Utah, we find it fitting that we start operations in the Beehive State.
Our Mission
This is the state of Utah, outlined in red. In blue, is all photographed trails, roads, streets, avenues, etc, courtesy of either Google or people uploading to Google Street View.
Notice those large swathes of land devoid of any lines? Those are places where Street View photos have not been taken...yet.
We're setting out to change that.
Even in some places with photographic data, there are places like Manila, Utah (second photo) where the photo data is so old, you can't make out fine details like street signs or numbers on houses since the photos haven't been updated since 2007.
The Problem
These are what regular OHV trail maps look like.
Lines on a piece of paper that resemble a trail, sometimes they have satellite images, but most times they don't.
As for actual pictures of the trail? Forget about it.
How do you see the trail before you ride on it?
How would you know the quality of the trail?
How do you know this trail is a valid one?
These are all questions people have before venturing out on a new trail that they haven't been down before. There's no worse feeling than driving 15 miles down a trail just for the map to be outdated, for the trail to be marked wrong, or for you to take a wrong turn and end up in uncharted terrority, outside of the maps knowledge.
What We Do
All trails we service are either unphotographed or photographs are older than 10 years at date of capture
This allows you to make an informed decision about your trail adventures for the day, week, or whole vacation
This helps not only the offroad community, but the overlander, hiking, mountaineering, and all outdoors folk alike
Funding
By combining state and county tourism grants, OHV trail grants (FIG grants), sponsorship deals, collaborations with names in the off-roading industry, and funding from both private citizens and businesses alike, we're able to deliver an unparalleled experience when it comes to mapping out the state.
We also make money by charging per mile for individuals to add their own custom ad/logo into the Google Street View images at the nadir (bottom) on the 360° image. Pricing varies on trail, terrain, and length of road in which the logo is to be added.
With this business model, combined with a relatively low overhead, we're certain that we'll be able to deliver high quality photos to the people of Utah
